Positioned on an Umbrian
hilltop midway between the charming villages of Montepulciano and Cortona in
Tuscany and in close proximity to Lake Trasimeno and Chiusi in Umbria,
Chiaravista is a new and impressive stone manor built on the ruins of an ancient
farmhouse.
The estate enjoys remarkable views of both Tuscany and Umbria and
this ideal location on the Tuscan-Umbrian border permits easy access to both of
these beautiful regions. The motorway exits of Chiusi and Valdichiana are 20
minutes away by car. The fast train services the Chiusi station, thus making
Rome 90 minutes away and Florence one hour away by train. Castiglione del Lago
on Lake Trasimeno is at 5 km and provides a variety of services in a lovely
lakeside setting. Graced with imposing medieval ruins and fortified castles,
the Lake Trasimeno area is historical as the battleground where Hannibal
defeated the Romans in
217 B.C. Excursion boats to the lake
islands leave from Passignano sul Trasimeno where both here and in Castiglione
del Lago, the local trattorias serve the typical cuisine of the region featuring
the lake fish, especially Carp al Cartoccio.
Views toward Tuscany include Mount Amiata and the Val d’Orcia with its
enchanting landscape. Its gentle sloping hills highlight the beautiful hamlets
of Montepulciano, home to the Vino Nobile, Pienza, a renaissance jewel of a
village, and Montalcino, the famed hilltown where the Brunello wine is from.
Umbrian views highlight the town of Castiglione del Lago and Lake Trasimeno.
Chiaravista comfortably sleeps fourteen people in seven stylish bedrooms, each with
private bathroom. It provides an extremely comfortable atmosphere that is
perfect for a gathering of friends or family reunion.
The estate is composed of the main villa and an annex, both air
conditioned. The main villa contains the seven elegant bedrooms and en suite
bathrooms plus a dining/breakfast area with open kitchen. Here there is a large
table, sofas
in front of the fireplace and big archways made of brick and stone that
separate the rooms.
Off of the this large
room is a furnished veranda with views over the swimming pool and the green
countryside toward Tuscany. There is also a patio on the Umbria side so the
one can rotate depending on the sun and shade. Located at about 20 meters from
the villa is an annex with the reception area, laundry room with washer and dryer,
service bathroom and generous common room. Fast Internet and telephone are
available at the reception. The common room is made up of a large living and
dining room with fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen that leads
onto the garden and pool. The annex is a perfect place for large culinary
gatherings such as special dinners, cooking lessons and wine tasting. These can
be arranged featuring the locally grown products of the region. It is also
ideal for relaxing, reading, or watching satellite television in the very
comfortable surroundings.
There are shady outdoor sitting and dining areas throughout the grounds and the
numerous porticos provide nice and cool al fresco dining. The panoramic
position of the large swimming pool (12 X 6) offers a great occasion for
enjoying the brilliant sunsets over the Tuscan hills. The sundeck is equipped
with sun loungers and there are two furnished gazebos providing shade and a
relaxing respite from the sun. The large lawn and garden measure 2.5 acres
and are
well maintained.
The architecture and design of the structure feature unique artistic touches and
the house is decorated in a colorful blend of contemporary comfortable
furnishings and antiques. Quality fabric and furniture prominently figure in
this tasteful renovation.
