Monterosso al Mare, an old coastal village lying on the Levante part of the ligurian riviera between the point at Mesco and the island of Tinetto, is the town in Cinque Terre best equipped for tourism: its typical local restaurants offer the possibility of tasting the local ligurian cuisine and the famous Cinque Terre wine, which was even mentioned by Petrarch. Its position close to the hills cultivated with vines and olive trees, its superb beaches, the steep cliffs and the crystal-clear waters of the sea make this little town one of the most attractive along the ligurian riviera. The villa once belonged to a famous poet who received a Nobel in 1900, the villa has now been divided into large apartments, but the atmosphere has remained as it was then. The well looked-after grounds are shared with the other residents, who rarely use them, and the panorama is of a rare beauty. It stands in the little village of Fegina on the edges of the village, and can be reached by car. At less than 500 metres away there are food shops, and the station at Monterosso is about 800 metres away. The apartment has been renovated, but has preserved the original frescoes and some of the original furniture; it has a dishwasher, washing-machine, and air-conditioning, and the beach lies less than a kilometre away.
