The Cinque Terre is one of the most uncontaminated natural areas of the Mediterranean: five miles of rocky coastline enclosed by two promontories with 5 villages clinging to the rocky spurs in the tiny inlets, appearing to be suspended between the sea and the land. The result is a landscape unique throughout the world, with hills lined with vineyards and olive-tree groves, bordered by typical dry walls, reflecting in the crystal-clear deep sea water, characterised by bays, ravines and small beaches nestled between the cliffs. A unique and breathtaking area, part of the Patrimony of Humanity protected by UNESCO and also a Natural Marine Park, which protects its integrity. Manarola is the second village coming in from the east: the famous `Via dell`Amore` path, which starts in Riomaggiore and finishes here, is the most famous of the network of paths crossing through the Cinque Terre, considered in this field among the top hiking paths in the world. The apartment is situated in the heart of the village, in one of the `carugi` (narrow alley) that leads from the public car park to the Belvedere street. The apartment offers simple and essential furnishings. It is on the second floor with a small balcony that offers a splendid view of the sea and the hill covered with vineyards, where every December you can see the largest lit Christmas crib in the world, a truly spectacular show. The train, which links all the villages with La Spezia, is the most popular and best advised means of reaching this area.
