The northern Italian city of Mantova is an enchanting
historic city surrounded on three sides by lakes. Piazza del'Erbe,
Mantova's central piazza, is one of the most stunning in all of Italy - it's a
lively square where both locals and visitors congregate. There are many cafes
and several great restaurants in and around the piazza. In 2005 Mantova
was named Italy's most livable city.
Also known as Mantua, you
might remember that Romeo came here after he was banished from Verona after
killing Tybalt.
Besides its artistic and
historical treasures, Mantova excels for its food tradition and the for
availability of enriching activities--from the boat excursions on the lakes
surrounding the town to the spring jazz festival to the literature festival that
runs each September.
