Located just 30 kilometers from Rome, Villa Travertina offers an ideal
location for visiting the Eternal City and also provides a welcoming refuge at
the end of a busy day of sightseeing. The villa enjoys a panoramic hilltop
position with expansive views. In close proximity is the pre-Roman town of
Tivoli as well as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Villa d'Este and Villa
Adriana (Hadrian's Villa). The graceful Travertine terraces, large swimming pool
and exceptional views of Rome and surrounding hillside villages are only some of
the qualities that make Villa Travertina a memorable retreat in the Rome area.
This exclusive, gated property features a hand-hewn stone driveway, walking
paths and shade trees on the large estate and well maintained grounds with
abundant roses, hydrangeas and wild cyclamens.
The Italian owners have
recently restored this 6-bedroom family villa with great care. The renovation
reflects an impressive combination of modern comfort and excellent taste. The
rooms are filled with attractive furnishings, rare art and objects from around
the world. Figuring among these are travertine and alabaster sculptures in the
garden and house and noteworthy paintings that give this villa its unique
character.
Villa Travertina makes an ideal home away from home. The
spacious living room with fireplace has comfortable sofas and arm chairs and is
warm and relaxing. There is also a music room with baby grand piano. One of the
striking aspects of the house is the unique trophy room. The Villa Travertina
owner is an Italian Ernest Hemmingway of sorts and some of his safari “trophies”
can be found in the house and on the walls of the master bedroom.
Guests
who are fond of cooking will truly appreciate the state of the art kitchen, with
its informal and rustic style. This is a great kitchen for gathering and
creating memorable dishes. It is also possible to arrange for a cook and the
chef is happy to take requests and coordinate the food shopping as required for
your stay.
The outdoor terraces are not only wonderful for al fresco
meals but offer tremendous views. A kind and helpful couple live on the premises
and assist with the housekeeping and garden and pool maintenance. Daily
housekeeping is included in the rental fee.
Large families and groups of
friends appreciate Villa Travertina as much for its comfort and views and as for
the ease in staying here. The owners are able to arrange a variety of services
such as airport transfer, driver, guide, restaurant reservations and cooking
classes, to name a few.
Comments from former guests always include the
beautiful sunsets from the terraces, the pleasure of drinking a glass of local
wine and the sweeping views over olive groves, mustard fields and the reflective
pool at Hadrian’s Villa. On a clear day, it is possible to see St. Peter’s Dome
and the Tyrrhenian Sea in the distance.
