Let me say straight away that our stay at Villa Diodati was an outstanding success. It exceeded my highest expectations & perhaps best of all my wife enjoyed every minute of it. The villa , its grounds & facilities are impressive. The villas size & the range of facilities both inside & out meant that everyone was able to go about doing their own thing . Whilst for a group of our size this was ideal , I believe that it would require a large group such as ours to make it work well . I don't believe that any member of our party found anything critical to say about any aspect of the Villa. It may also be worth commenting on the Villas location . The villas close proximity to Lucca was a major plus. Lucca is a charming town which one could access either by car or taxi in some ten minutes. Being so close to Lucca it was surprising that the Villa was located in such a tranquil rural environment. It was also blessed being so close to Villa Reale , which incidentally, was the home of Napoleons sister . The grounds of Villa Reale are magnificent & being less than five minute walk away , were a joy to walk around. I could indeed have spent much more time than I had at my disposal doing so. An added bonus is that Villa Reale is signposted from north south east or west whereas Diodati is not I would like to comment on the staff who attended to our every need at the Villa. The resident staff are a couple who originate from Rumania. Giorgio & his wife Lika ( I think this is how it is spelt ! ). It is difficult to praise them too highly. Hard working , efficient & courteous . They orchestrated every aspect of our needs & wishes brilliantly. The extra chef & assistant you organized were also excellent. Indeed the chef , Mario was outstanding . So much so that he finished up giving some of the ladies hints on Italian cooking. The night of my wife's birthday was a resounding success . The food , service, music & atmosphere made it an occasion that we will all remember for a long time to come. Perhaps incredibly & most importantly she had no idea that any of it was being planned. You may find it somewhat surprising & maybe even a little boring when I say , truthfully , I could find no fault in any aspect of our trip. The planning & execution were faultless . A large part of this was indeed a result of your patient responses to my persistent attention to detail & to the manner in which you dealt with the process .
