Elsie Kinghorn Carolan

Aunt Elsie's Journal

Aboard the SS Montcalm.  Nov 11, 1927.

Packed most of the afternoon.  Walked over four miles in the morning -- 45 times around the deck.  Mr. Milbourne, the first mate, said that 10 times around made one mile.  Tess and Sal walked with me.  Party in Rosenthal's room after dinner.

Farewell, as we land tomorrow!  Couldn't dance on deck, as boat had to stay at Quebec until eleven o'clock.  Went up on "A" deck and danced in the hall.

Went for a walk on A Promenade at about 2:00am.  Had a wonderful time!

Nov 30, 1927.

Arrived at Forsyth at 8:40.  There was a dance at the Opera House.  Whit met the train with the dogs -- they were glad to see me!

Forsyth looked rather cold and gloomy, but still it seemed nice to get back and see old friends.  Frances and Harry came over to the house and we all went to the dance.  Had a very nice time.

So now that we are home again and this wonderful trip has ended, I must also say 'goodbye' to you, old book.

Nothing left but memories and a desire to take just such another trip.

Thank you, Elsie, for taking us along on your journey once again.

We will always think of you when we go to the places you have been and shared with us so graciously!
