A Veneto Beauty
Called Sossano |

Portions of the house date to the mid 1800’s. Mr. Rigoni, though, has put his major stamp on the place by plastering walls and ceilings, updating the three bathrooms and wiring the place providing plenty of light at night. It is difficult to guess the actual square-footage. The house is multi-level and some areas are rooms which will be more clearly defined in the future. My favorite room is the” taverna”. It is at entry level and boasts a very large Venetian style fireplace, which was used daily. The long table, around which we drank wine and ate cheese and wonderful bread to our hearts’ content, was a great thick plank of wood. Benches with cushions supplied the seating. It was a great room to keep warm in during the first days of rain and wind. (Luckily, lots of firewood is provided). The taverna room was at entry level
The fully equipped kitchen
is up a half a landing from the entry. We used the gas stove, washing
machine and dish washer without any difficulty. There are plenty of
glasses and dishes and pots and pans. It is clearly a house to
entertain in even though we were personally there for the peace and
quiet.
