A Veneto Beauty Called Sossano

The best bedroom of all is at the topmost level two more steps up.  It is very large and best of all, it boasts a large balcony with table and chairs overlooking the poppies, olive trees and the now famous spectacular view of Sossano!

Master bedroom with balcony and fabulous view

One night we thought we had accidentally left some light on outside.  In fact it was the full moon announcing the disappearance of the clouds.  What a pleasure it was to wake up each morning to the sounds of the birds busily going about their spring duties.

By the time Mr. Rigoni had finished showing us the property and we had sat down to talk about restaurants and points of interest, he had removed his cap and sunglasses.  He and his wife ended up staying a while.  We were all enjoying the conversation.  My husband is originally from a small town in the Veneto about an hour and a half away.  They found much in common to talk about.  I, with my broken Italian understood about half, but I got the distinct impression that their English was on par with my Italian.

They invited us to dinner that night to a restaurant way up in the hills.  Mr. Rigoni took us on an extensive tour of the area before going up to the restaurant.  Only later, when we personally became more familiar with the towns in the area did we realize what a big gesture he had made to make us feel welcome.  At first these Venetians can appear a little cool and aloof, but once you win their trust they can be kind and generous to a fault.
