Nicholas
Nicholas is a comfortable independent 19th century villa located several meters above the lively coastal road bordering Lake Maggiore. Lesa is located just a short distance away and can be reached in five minutes by foot along a pedestrian walkway behind the villa. The views are remarkable along the route. Lesa offers a variety of shops and restaurants and the Rapanello Restaurant in Lesa offers delicious meals which can be ordered in advance and then taken home. The small harbor and lakeside promenade are just in front of the house - the water is only 50 m away.
There are several nearby
destinations and activities in the area for guests'
pleasure. Just a 10 minute walk away, you will find a sports
club with tennis courts and large swimming pool which offers
guests a daily or weekly rate. The beach is 50 meters from the
villa and there are also two golf courses within 15 minutes by
car. The ferry to the other beautiful lake resort towns and
islands docks at Belgirate which is also just 10 minutes away on
foot.
Daily excursions are possible to the Borromean islands, to Arona and to the botanical gardens at the Villa Taranto. Nicholas is a great choice for those who prefer not to rent a car. The railway station of Lesa is for local trains and is only 5 minutes away by foot. Trains for Milan depart from the railway station in Stresa which is about 6 km. From the main train station in Milan there is a direct, regular train connection (Cisalpino) to Stresa, where you can take a taxi for the last 6 km to the villa. Malpensa airport outside of Milan is only around 45 minutes away by car.
The villa is accessed from the
main road through its beautiful gardens and two flights of stone
steps. One first enters a small inner courtyard with garage and
then, on ascending the steps, the path leads to the
immaculately well-kept gardens of the villa where precious
shrubs and flowers are to be admired throughout the year.
A stone patio borders the house on
three sides and there is a shady pergola with garden furniture
for al fresco dinners..
Lovely views of the bay of Lesa are enjoyed along the entire panoramic side of the house.
The villa occupies two floors.
Ground floor The ground floor houses the hallway, a kitchen leading to the side patio, a guest bathroom with shower, and an impressive lounge, study and dining-room area overlooking the lake. These rooms feature a fireplace, fine and comfortable period furniture as well as a more modern lounge suite with patio doors leading to the garden. The lighting has been chosen with care and provides a cozy and discrete atmosphere. Laundry facilities are also located on this floor.
A winding, wooden staircase
leads to the upper floor.
First floor The bedrooms are off the wide central hallway.
There are four bedrooms and
two bathrooms on this floor. Two of the bedrooms have a
view of the lake - the largest bedroom is a double and has a
balcony and sink.
The other three bedrooms are comprised of one double bedroom with en suite bathroom and bathtub, also facing the lake, one twin bedded room, one single bedroom, and a separate bathroom with bathtub.
